Screw conveyors are a type of material conveying machinery suitable for industries such as chemical engineering, grain, and building materials. Working principle
The structure of the screw conveyor
The screw conveyor is mainly composed of a screw shaft, a material trough, a drive device, bearings and sealing parts. The spiral shaft, as the core component, is composed of a rotating shaft and spiral blades. The shape of the blades is designed as solid type, belt type, etc. according to the characteristics of the material. The material troughs are mostly U-shaped or tubular closed structures, used to accommodate materials and form conveying channels. The drive unit includes a motor and a reducer, which are installed at one end or side of the material trough to provide power. Bearings and seals are used to support the screw shaft and prevent material overflow.
The working principle of the screw conveyor
The working principle of a screw conveyor is based on the rotational thrust of the screw blades. When the drive device rotates the screw shaft, the screw blades exert an axial thrust on the material. However, due to the friction with the inner wall of the material trough and its own weight, the material does not rotate along with the blades but moves along the axial direction of the material trough from the feeding port to the discharging port under the action of the thrust, achieving continuous material transportation. Among them, the rotation direction of the helical blades determines the conveying direction of the material, and the conveying path can be changed by adjusting the rotation direction according to actual needs.
